(\u201cNewlox\u201d or the \u201cCompany\u201d)<br \/>\n(CSE: LUX | Frankfurt\/Stuttgart: NGO | PINK: NWLXF) is pleased to announce that its planned<br \/>\nexpansion into gold recovery in Brazil, comparable to its established operations in Costa Rica, has<br \/>\nadvanced through initial due diligence and underlying legal organization.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative has also been greatly enhanced by the news that the Research Center for Responsible<br \/>\nMining of the Polytechnic School of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (NAP.Minera\u00e7\u00e3o\/USP) has received<br \/>\nexpanded World Bank funding for its ASGM \u2013 Coexistence in Brazil Project being undertaken in<br \/>\npartnership with the Brazilian Cooperative Organization, various artisanal mining cooperatives, the<br \/>\nUniversity of British Columbia, and Newlox Gold (Portuguese news release here).<br \/>\nNewlox Gold, as announced on June 16, 2021, has been working in partnership with<br \/>\nNAP.Minera\u00e7\u00e3o\/USP, the centre for small-scale responsible mining at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo,<br \/>\nBrazil.<\/p>\n<p>This centre supports dissemination of responsible mining practices to artisanal and small-scale<br \/>\nmining operations through applied research, training and education. The actions of NAP.Mineracao\/USP<br \/>\nfoster responsible and integrated management of mineral exploration, mine development, mining,<br \/>\nrehabilitation, governance, and sustainable development within the artisanal mining sector.<br \/>\nThe objective is to \u201cprepare miners for the long term by establishing safer and more efficient mining<br \/>\nmodels and disseminating mercury-free gold recovery techniques, practices and principles of health and<br \/>\nsafety, ESG, economic management and gender equality\u201d, commented Professor Giorgio De Tomi, the<br \/>\ndirector of NAP.Minera\u00e7\u00e3o\/USP and Newlox Gold\u2019s head of Brazilian Operations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fostering of partnerships between artisanal miners and private companies is a vital part of SGMCoexistence in Brazil initiative. Newlox Gold has been presented to the Brazilian artisanal sector as an<br \/>\nexample of a company implementing mutually beneficial business models for improving the economic,<br \/>\nsocial, and environmental impacts of artisanal mining for all stakeholders.
